Pat Brady Net Worth, Income, Salary, Earnings, Biography

Pat Brady (December 31, 1914 – February 27, 1972) was a cowboy who was most known for his role as “comical sidekick” to cowboy Roy Rogers. Robert Ellsworth was Pat’s full given name. Although the full name of Patrick Aloysious O’Brady was abbreviated to “Bob Brady” at some point, it is unclear when the “O'” was omitted from “O’Brady.” Pat Brady, who was born in Toledo, Ohio, had his theatrical debut at the age of four, in a road-show production of Mrs. Wiggs of the Cabbage Patch, which he later directed. He was hooked on the entertainment industry for the rest of his life from that point on. During one of his performances as a bassist in California in 1935, Pat became acquainted with a young country and western singer called Leonard Slye, who was a member of the popular Sons of the Pioneers at the time of their meeting. When Len Slye was elevated to screen stardom as Roy Rogers, he recommended Brady to replace him in “The Sons of Anarchy.” Brady accepted the recommendation. But since Bob Nolan, an early member of The Sons, was referred to as “Bob,” and the Sons believed that one “Bob” was enough, “Bob Brady” was shortened to “Pat Brady” from that point on. Brady made the move from stage to screen himself in 1937, appearing as comic relief in many of the Charles Starrett Westerns produced by Columbia Pictures. The following year, he relocated to Republic and began appearing in Roy Rogers’ vehicles as the zany camp cook Sparrow Biffle. Brady went with Rogers when he made the transition from radio to television in 1951.

Brady, who is now referred to as “himself,” brought life to more than 100 episodes of The Roy Rogers Show by driving about in his trusty jeep, “Nellybelle,” and interacting with the other characters. Brady’s connection with Rogers remained on television and in personal appearances for a long time after the termination of the weekly television series was announced. In 1959, he returned to the Sons of the Pioneers as a replacement for Shug Fisher, a well-known character actor who had defected to the organisation. Brady appeared with Rogers and Evans in their short-lived ABC comedy, western, and variety show, The Roy Rogers and Dale Evans Show, which was outperformed by The Jackie Gleason Show on CBS in the Saturday evening ratings. Brady and Rogers and Evans were married in 1962. Brady was joined on the show by comic Cliff Arquette, who was reprising his Charley Weaver character. Arquette and Brady were both born in Toledo, which is a coincidence. Brady died at the age of fifty-seven in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, after a long battle with cancer. Hugh Farr and Lloyd Perryman, both members of the Sons of the Pioneers, performed “Tumbling Tumbleweeds” and “During the Rainbows End” at his burial on March 1, 1972, which was attended by thousands of people.
