Parkash Singh Badal, the founder of the Shiromani Akali Dal and a seventy-year veteran of Punjab politics who served as chief minister five times, passed away on Tuesday. He was 95.
According to hospital director Abhijeet Singh, Mr. Badal died away at 8 o’clock in the evening.

Sukhbir Singh Badal was born on July 9, 1962, in Faridkot, Punjab, and is Parkash Singh Badal’s eldest son.
He is a well-known businessman and politician from India who presided as Punjab’s deputy chief minister from 2009 to 2017.
Punjab University awarded Sukhbir Singh Badal a bachelor’s degree in economics, while California State University awarded him a master’s degree in business administration.
Parkash Singh Badal’s younger daughter Parneet Kaur was born on October 28, 1964, in Delhi. She is a doctor by training and has represented the Punjabi seat of Patiala in the Indian Parliament.
She graduated from Maulana Azad Medical College in Delhi with his MBBS and then went on to pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology. She is extensively interested in social work and has previously served as president of the Indian Medical Association.
