Over 250 PDP members join APC in Yobe

Mai Mala Buni, governor of Yobe State, has welcomed over 250 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Fune local government area of the state.

Gov. Buni, who his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, represented, received the defectors and characterised their departure as a significant setback for the opposition.

Saying that “APC believes in one united Nigeria, contrary to PDP,” he reassured the new members that they would be treated fairly.

State party chairman Mohammed Gadaka, who praised the defectors for joining the ruling APC, invited members of other political parties in the state to do the same to help advance the state’s progress.

According to Mallan Iliyasu Adamu Jilum, a former PDP executive member in Fune local government who spoke on behalf of the defectors, the timing of their switch of allegiance could not be better.

Jilum stated, “We left our prior party due to Governor Mai Mala Buni’s open leadership.”

Highlights included the State Deputy Governor and the state party chairman, Mohammad Gadaka, presenting APC flags to the new inductees.
