She headed out of her house on Match 9, 1975, and told her parents she would pick up clothes from a friend’s place. Her parents expected her to be home soon but started worrying when she did not return by 11 pm that night.
Karen was reported missing, and the authorities found out she went out to meet her boyfriend at a nearby supermarket. The search for Adams ended when her body was found in a ditch the next day, reports The Cinemaholic.
Karen Adams Murder: What Happened?
Adam’s pants were unbuttoned, and her sweater was pushed up, suggesting an assault. An autopsy confirmed she was molested and assaulted. The cause of Karen’s death was strangulation, and her purse and shoes were found around half a mile from her body.
Karen’s boyfriend agreed to take a lie detector test and was ruled out as a suspect. The police did not have further leads, and the case turned cold over time.
The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Illinois, decided to take a fresh look at the murder case after 33 years of murder in 2008. The evidence from her clothes was sent to the lab for testing. The results came back with two male DNA profiles.
Where Are Robert Meyer and Charles Webber Now?
After checking through CODIS, one of the profiles matched with Robert Meyer. The authorities also found out about Charles Webber, who he met in the prison.
They were convicted of kidnapping and molesting two women in Toledo, Ohio, in 1997. By the time the authorities learned about Charles’s connection to Karen’s murder, he had already passed away. He passed away in 1992 when he was around 52 years old.
