David Jenkins was a British diving coach.
His final work before his unfortunate death came in as the coach of Britain’s national team in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Under his coaching, the British divers got a joint-record medal haul.
Many people poured their tributes which included Swim England’s chief executive Jane Nickerson.
He said that everyone at Swim England was deeply saddened to hear David’s passing, and their sincere condolences went to his family and friends. He also added that David had played a key role in developing divers who competed in Commonwealth Games, World Championships, and the Olympics.
David Jenkins Obituary – Who Is He?
David Jenkins was the diving development lead coach at the GLL.
The news of his passing on 11 October 2021 saddened his family, fans, friends, and the athletes he trained. He died at the age of 31. Considering that, he was born in 1990.
David was a 2008 A-level graduate from the Torridge Academy. After that, he completed his bachelor’s in sports and exercise science in 2015 from the Leeds Beckett Unversity. He graduated with first-degree honors.
As for his professional career, he began as a diving performance officer at Active Luton in July 2012. However, he left to become the diving development lead coach for the GLL in January 2015.
Throughout his career, he coached Britain’s diving representatives of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He also played a significant part as the coach of the England side at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
In 2018, he got nominated for Diving Coach of the Year at the British Swimming Awards., which shows the quality of his coaching. The respected coach spent time at Tom Daley Diving Academy, providing Learn To Dive lessons to thousands of children across the country.
Besides being a coach, Jenkins also had competitive experience in gymnastics and diving. He competed for ten years as a gymnast and six years as a diver.
He never disclosed much about his private life – he never got the chance to introduce his wife (if married) nor his parents. We never got to know any of his love tales.
Hopefully, the diving coach rests in peace, and God gives his family enough strength to withstand these grieving times. At the moment, his family hasn’t provided the information on his funeral.
