The ex-boyfriend of a Harvard woman discovered dead in Vermont was shot and murdered by police on Tuesday night, according to officials.
Fitchburg native Matthew Davis, a person of interest in the killing of 23-year-old Mary Anderson, was shot after a confrontation with police, according to Massachusetts State Police.
The altercation occurred at 7:45 p.m. in West Brattleboro in a wooded area between Bonnyvale Road and South Street, according to Vermont State Police.
“Two troopers and a Brattleboro police officer discharged their guns during the interaction with Davis, who was armed with a knife,” Vermont State Police said in a statement.

Mary Anderson vanished on Sunday, and her loved ones were quickly aware of what was happening with her.
Mary’s pals believe she could not have posted on Instagram or Snapchat since they seemed different.
When the police were notified, one of her ex-boyfriends, Matthew Davis, was instantly recognized as a person of interest in the hunt for her.
Mary’s death pushed the case to the level of a more severe murder inquiry because she was just 23 years old and well-known for her humorous, laid-back, and playful nature.

Who Is Her Mother Sheila Anderson From Harvard Ma?
The family of a missing 23-year-old lady from a small Massachusetts village believes she got abducted.
Her family told Boston 25 News that she had been hanging out with pals there and that they assume she had returned home to Harvard, roughly 30 miles away.
According to her mother, Sheila Anderson, she had never gone away before, which was unusual for her; “she even asked to find her daughter in any way.”
The mother appeared to be emotionally bonded to her daughter. Sheila has her own beliefs about what happened to her daughter.
Anderson’s mother, Sheila, had verified the couple’s three-year affair. Anderson’s final four days were regarded by her relatives as “weird and bizarre.”

The police contacted Matthew Davis as soon as he was recognized as a person of interest in Mary’s disappearance and death.
According to WCVB, the officers only recently revealed their fight with Davis.
The Vermont State Police and the Brattleboro Police Department discovered him while strolling in West Brattleboro on Tuesday night.
According to the police spokeswoman, he was shot by cops when they went to talk with him at 7:45 p.m.
Davis has been ruled deceased since then, according to a recent state police report. Davis, a 34-year-old Fitchburg resident, is reported to have links to the Pittsfield area.
According to Major Dan Trudeau of the Vermont State Police, he should be considered dangerous. He was a person of interest but not a suspect in the case.
