Liverpool F.C.’s Chairman and honorary life president was David Richard Moores. On September 18, 1991, he was appointed Chairman.
He owned 17,850 shares in Liverpool F.C., or 51 percent of the club. Sir John Moores, his uncle, was Chairman of Everton, where he was only a minor shareholder.
John Moores founded Littlewoods, which made the Moores family one of the wealthiest in the United Kingdom.
Littlewoods was sold for £750 million in 2002. David Moores, the former Chairman, and owner of Liverpool, died at 76. Following the news of his death, tributes poured in on social media.

THE MOORES FAMILY is still at the top of the list of the most influential people with ties to West Lancashire.
The list is based on tangible wealth, such as land, property, and other assets such as art and racehorses, as well as significant stakes in publicly traded companies.
It does not include bank accounts to which the newspaper does not have access.
The Moores family’s estimated fortune has remained constant at £1.2 billion, but they have dropped from joint 85th to joint 90th place on the list.
Liverpool went through its most barren period in three decades under Moores. Despite winning the most club competitions over the sixteen years, they did not win the most coveted English Premiership.

David Moores Wife And Family
Liverpool announced the death of David Moores, the club’s former Chairman and owner, at 76.
The Moores family owned the club for over 50 years, with David becoming an owner in 1991 before selling his majority stake in 2007.
His death comes just weeks after the end of his wife of 39 years, Marge. Kathy Anders, Moores’ first wife, was a beauty queen and model who was crowned Miss England in 1974.
She appeared in television commercials for the Littlewoods Group and married Moores in February 1976.
Anders died in a car crash in September 1977, aged 26, after only 18 months of marriage, when Moores’ Jaguar car overturned into a ditch on a quiet country road in Lancashire.
Moores was taken to the hospital with severe head injuries. It was the Moores family’s second family tragedy that year.
Moores’s elder brother David died in a car accident in the south of France five months earlier, in April 1977.
