Nikki Burdine Career
Nikki started her career in radio, working for Red Zebra Broadcasting and ESPN Radio where she was a correspondent on the John Riggins Show. While in college, she majored in journalism and she knew what she wanted to do and took a bit of a detour to Washington, DC. She lived there and worked for the Redskins and their radio station for a few years before getting her first on-air job in Hagerstown, MD right outside of DC.
She was there for a few years where she carried her own camera and tripod (about 40 lbs!) and did it all by herself! From there she moved to Lexington, KY and anchored on weekends. She then moved back to Washington, DC and worked as a reporter at the CBS station. After a few years there she landed this incredible job at WKRN. She has also worked as a reporter at WUSA9 in Washington, D.C., WLEX in Lexington, Kentucky, and WHAG in Hagerstown, Maryland.
Prior to joining WKRN, Nikki was a reporter and fill-in anchor at WUSA9 in Washington, DC. She has also worked at WLEX in Lexington, KY, WHAG in Hagerstown, MD and also for the Washington Redskins. She has covered stories across the country, including Presidential elections, the 2017 Inauguration, hurricanes in the Carolinas and tornadoes in Kentucky, the landmark same-sex marriage decision at the Supreme Court, riots in Baltimore, White House press briefings and fence-jumpers, the Philadelphia train derailment, several Kentucky Derby races, and the NCAA tournament.
Her favorite stories, however, are stories about people, and she can’t wait to tell the stories of the wonderful people in Tennessee.
Nikki Burdine Pregnant | Baby
GMN’s Nikki Burdine gives birth to a baby girl at 28 weeks
The newest member of the Good Morning Nashville family was born Friday as Nikki Burdine gave birth to her daughter— Laura Anderson “Andi” Williams.
Baby Andi made her grand entrance at 4:28 p.m. at 1.4 pounds and is considered a “micro-preemie.” Nikki was 28 weeks along when she gave birth.
Nikki spent the last weeks of her pregnancy preparing for Andi’s early arrival. She announced Baby Andi’s birth on social media Tuesday night.
“Eight weeks ago we were told she would come early because of IUGR, and although we had hoped to keep her in there longer, she just couldn’t wait. She has been consistently measuring 2.5 weeks behind in growth, although we didn’t know why. After numerous tests came back negative (thankfully) doctors discovered 2 weeks ago the placenta was the problem. She wasn’t growing because she couldn’t get what she needed. We were having ultrasounds every week to monitor her, each week she stayed in there a blessing.”
IUGR is Intrauterine Growth Restriction, which is a condition in which the fetus is smaller than expected for the number of weeks of pregnancy. On Friday, Nikki’s doctors determined it was time for Andi to be born.
Baby Andi has already impressed NICU staff with how well she is doing and doctors are optimistic. Nikki described her baby girl as “feisty.”
Everyone at News 2 is overjoyed at the arrival of Baby Andi and could not be more impressed with Nikki’s strength and grace as she navigates her new role as mother to her beautiful little girl.
Nikki has been released from the hospital though Baby Andi will remain in the NICU for an indeterminate amount of time as she grows stronger. She asked that viewers keep Baby Andi in their prayers and thanked the community for their love and support.
