Nasakol Girls High School Description
Nasokol Girls Secondary School is a four-streamed girls’ school situated along Kapenguria – Kacheliba road, a kilometer from Makutano trading center. The history of Nasokol Girls Secondary School is built upon missionary work of Bible Churchmen Mission Society which established their missionary work in Pokot area in 1931.
Nasokol Girls Secondary School was established in 1966 by the Church Missionary Society to admit girls up to form 2.
In the initial stages, the school used the primary facilities namely office, and two classrooms. Later, other structures were put up at the secondary side: in 1973, the missionaries constructed one laboratory that has since been expanded to serve as the chemistry and biology laboratories. Two years later, two more permanent classrooms were constructed to serve as form three and four.
In 1981, then president His Excellency, Hon. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi laid a foundation stone for the school’s first dining hall whose construction was ended in 1982. During the opening of the dining hall, His Excellency donated a Chevrolet pickup (KTY 627) to the school. In 1994, His Excellency donated another vehicle, a Toyota Hilux double cabin pick-up (KXY 693) – to Nasokol Girls. This kind generosity has remained deeply embossed in the hearts of many both in Nasokol and West Pokot.
The first dining hall has served the school as both hall and chapel for over two decades before the construction of the Chepaypay multi-purpose hall in 2004.
Domestic science room which currently serves as the school bookstore – cum – library was constructed in between 1976 and 1982.
From late 1988 to 1991, the school’s sponsor (Anglican Church of Kenya) embarked on a major project that helped the school erect other important facilities which include: 5 classrooms, one dormitory, 2 laboratories, a borehole, 5 units of staff houses, headteachers house, staffroom, and a workshop. The complete electrical installation was also done within that period. The aim of the sponsor in this rapid expansion project was to elevate Nasokol Girls Secondary School into a high school (form 5 and 6) status.
