Molo Academy Secondary School Details
Molo Academy Secondary School is a boys-only boarding school offering an 8-4-4 education system. The School is located in Molo, Nakuru County. The school was started in 1987 following a presidential directive in 1986 that a secondary section is started to help absorb the graduates of the 8-4-4 system.
Molo Academy is a well-performing public school located at Mililani in Molo sub-county, Nakuru. It is about 2 km from Nakuru- Eldoret road.
It is sponsored by the education board and has deep roots in the spiritual growth of its students. It was founded in January 1986, following a directive by the then president His Excellency Daniel Moi.
The school is a public, extra-county school. It is a center of excellence and is very popular among students in the nation for its exemplary academic performance over many past years.
The then-president, H.E. Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi during his tour of the School (Molo Primary) directed that the secondary school be started.
The school’s academic performance and leadership in the last five years has continued to attract many students nationally. This made it difficult to expand the facilities at the primary school due to lack of space.
The then PS education, Prof Karega Mutahi visited the school on 29th June 2004 and directed that the school be decongested hence the urgent requirement to relocate to the school farm which is 800m from the current location. The DEB approved that the school is a boys school because the district did not have a public boy’s secondary school.
The gradual process of changing from a mixed school to a boys’ school started in 2008. The school administration started looking for funds to facilitate the construction of the school at the school farm as mandated by the DEB.
In 2009 the school was selected as a Centre of Excellence in the Molo constituency and benefitted from the ESP project under the 2009/2010 GOK financial year.
A Kenya shillings thirty million grant to the school was used to construct six classrooms, two science laboratories, an administration block, student toilets, a kitchen block, a septic tank, a powerhouse, and a staff toilet/store block.
