Melissa “Missy” Morrison Higgins is an Australian singer-songwriter, musician, and actor who was born on August 19, 1983. The Sound of White (2004), On a Clear Night (2007), and The Ol’ Razzle Dazzle (2012) are her No. 1 albums in Australia, and her most popular songs include “Scar,” “The Special Two,” “Steer,” and “Where I Stood.” Higgins was nominated for five ARIA Music Awards in 2004 and won for “Scar” in the category of “Best Pop Release.” She was nominated for seven additional awards in 2005, winning five of them. In 2007, Higgins received her eighth ARIA Award. The Ol’
Razzle Dazzle, her third album, was released in June 2012 in Australia and July 2012 in the United States. Missy released her fourth studio album, OZ, on September 19, 2014, which included a diverse CD of Aussie cover versions as well as a funny book of associated writings. OZ opened at #3 on the ARIA Album list and spent three weeks in the top five. Missy reimagines 15 Australian songs recorded by a varied group of musicians, including The Angels, Slim Dusty, Something For Kate, Warumpi Band, and Paul Kelly & The Drones, on the album. Missy utilises each of those songs as the beginning point for a vast series of essays in the accompanying OZ book, musing on life, love music, and much more. Higgins maintains interests in animal rights and the environment in addition to her music profession, attempting to make her tours carbon neutral. She made her acting debut in the feature film Bran Nue Dae in 2010, and she also sang on the soundtrack. Missy revealed her pregnancy in 2014, and she is expected to give birth to her first child, a baby boy, in January 2015.
