She had been going to auditions for modeling since the age of nine. She decided to leave school in order to begin her modeling career when Gene Lemuel discovered her around the age of 12.
1988 was the year when Jovovich signed her first professional modeling contract. She gained even more recognition as an actress starring in “Blue Lagoon” in 1991 and in “Dazed and Confused” in 1993. Her talent and passion for music, however, brought her more appreciation as a singer, musician as well as songwriter with the release of her album in 1994 – “Divine Comedy”. For a while, she focused on her music career and then came back starring in the lead role in “The Fifth Element” in 1997.
