Michael Thorbjornsen is an American amateur golfer from Stanford University. He began playing golf at the age of two, having been born to his parents who are experienced golfers.
On July 21, Thorbjornsen won the 2018 US Junior Amateur at Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, New Jersey. Similarly, in 2021 he won Massachusetts Amateur.

Ted is still his son’s lone swing instructor, and he teaches him now through videos that Michael gives him. “We do the best we can while being thousands of miles away,” Michael explained.
Michael has two sisters, Teresa and Vicky Thorbjorsen. It’s his younger sister and a mutual friend. Teresa, the professional golfer’s sister, goes to Wellesley College, while Vicky attends the University of California, Santa Barbara.

Meet Michael Thorbjornsen’s Father Ted And Mother Sandra Thorbjornsen
Michael Thorbjornsen’s mother Sandra and his father Ted were both professional golfers at their time. Sander immigrated to Cleveland from Norway when she was 23 years old, shortly after marrying his father, Ted.
Sandra graduated from Ursuline College in Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in information systems. Her education was furthered at Babson College, where she got her MBA.
While Ted worked on his MBA, she continued her former career from abroad through a satellite connection. Ted encouraged Sandra to take up golf as a means of networking, and she quickly discovered she had the swing of a natural.
Similarly, his father, Ted had stopped playing golf until lately in order to focus on his son’s golfing aspirations.

In an interview with Boston, his mother mentioned Thorbjornsen was born only hours before his mother intended to play 18.
Thorbjornsen was shuttled to the local golf course before moving into his family’s Cleveland house, foreshadowing a life spent on the links.
Miss Thorbjornsen placed her infant in front of the first tee, where he spent his second day on Earth listening to the ping of a driver colliding with a golf ball.
He was playing nine holes at the age of two, with his mother keeping track of and carding his score. Thorbjornsen was excavating his way out of sand traps as his friends played in sandboxes.
When Sandra tried to explain to her son that the purpose was to avoid bunkers rather than seek them, Michael was unconvinced.
“He answered, ‘No, I want it in the sand bunker,'” she remembered. “When he was two, his golf round was tee, bunker and he wouldn’t miss the bunker, green, hole.”
Golf is more of a religion than a hobby among the Thorbjornsens.
