Lindsay Fairbanks Rhodes is mostly known for being the wife of the renowned bassist, Michael Rhodes.
1953-year-old Rhodes, who was raised a self-taught bassist before moving to guitar at the age of 11, was born in Monroe, Louisiana. He moved to Nashville in 1977, when he joined the local rock group Nerve and the Tree Publishing in-house demo band.
This experience helped him understand a song’s requirements and how to play it much better. He hailed it as a “great crash education in the technique of playing a song” in an interview with Nashville Arts.
Rhodes went on to enjoy a long career as a session musician, contributing to many songs that were nominated for awards, such as Shawn Colvin’s “Sunny Come Home” in 1996 and Lee Ann Womack’s “I Hope You Dance” in 2000.
He also had the honor of contributing to the 1997 performances of Trisha Yearwood and LeAnn Rimes’ “How Do I Live” by Diane Warren.
In recent years, Rhodes has consistently played with Joe Bonamassa’s band. He is also survived by his parents in addition to his wife Lindsay Fairbanks Rhodes, kids Jason Rhodes and Melody Wind Rhodes, stepsons Van and Weston Hayes, and numerous grandchildren. Rhodes will be remembered as a talented and well-respected performer thanks to his lengthy career and impact on the music industry.
