Mia Swier Biography

Mia Swier born on September 1, 1985, is an American writer and producer at Fox Networks who also has a successful music career as a vocalist and bassist. She went to Indian Springs School from 1988 to 2003 before relocating to Alabama at the age of 10. Later she returned to her hometown to pursue higher studies at New York University, from where she completed her graduation with a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Science, Mass Communication and Media Studies in 2007. She enrolled at the New York Film Academy in 2008, and undertook a course on Filmmaking, which she completed the following year.

Mia was in a relationship with actor and singer, Darren Criss, since 2010 but never made it public untill 2013, when both of them were working on ‘Glee’. In an interview once she mentioned that when she first met him, he had not become an actor yet.

Darren announced their engagement on social media, in January 2018, adding that they have been together for seven and a half years.

“Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together. And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it,” he wrote on Instagram. “To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage.”

In April 2018, the couple opened a piano bar in Los Angeles called ‘Tramp Stamp Grannys’ to offer “pretty booze and tasty tunes”. The bar was named as a tribute to her lively grandmother. The couple went on an outing with his parents, following Darren’s Emmy win in September 2018.

Career

Mia worked as a Production Assistant at the White Cherry Entertainment from 2004 to 2006, while still studying at the New York University, during which time she produced several national live-televised events like the ‘SuperBowl’ and ‘Thanksgiving Day Parade’. In 2005, she joined ABC Television Network as a Production Intern and moved to USA Networks as a Nashville Star Production Assistant the following year.

She joined NBC in 2007, and began working on the immensely popular live television show, ‘Saturday Night Live’. In 2009, she switched network again, this time joining Showtime Networks Inc., where she worked as an Associate Producer for the next three years. During her time at Showtime Networks Inc., she produced promotional content for a number of television shows and cinematic movies, such as ‘Dexter’, ‘The Twilight Saga’ and some documentaries.She also teamed up with Dan Bricker in 2009 and co-founded the film production company Effin Media. Later she co-wrote and directed the short mockumentary ‘A (Not So) Civil Union’ and co-produced the short psycho-thriller ‘Somewhere Between’ for Effin Media.

In 2012 she moved to Fox Network’s Special Ops department as a writer cum producer and worked on shows like ‘The Mindy Project’, ‘Glee’, and ‘Teen Choice Awards’. In 2013, she began working on ‘Glee’ , and she and actor, Darren Criss, who played an openly gay character on the musical drama series, made their long-term relationship official.

Darren Criss weds longtime love Mia Swier in New Orleans

A recent Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning actor is officially off the dating market.

The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story star, Darren Criss, married his longtime love Mia Swier on Saturday in front of family and friends in New Orleans, Louisiana.

The couple, who had been together for about eight years, announced their engagement in January 2018.

Some of the stars that attended the ceremony include fellow Glee alum Lea Michele, John Stamos, Chord Overstreet and Harry Shum Jr.

What made it even more special was that Michele got to perform at the festive event.

For the most part, the couple have kept the details of their relationship private over the years.

They announced their engagement publicly on social media just over a year ago.

‘Mia and I have had seven and a half years of fun, wacky, wonderful, CRAZY adventures together,’ he gleefully captioned a photo of the pair as they each lifted one leg in the air.

‘And I’m happy to announce that we’re kicking those adventures up a notch. We’re goin for it. To boldly go where neither of us have gone before. Engage.’

The 32-year old actor took home a slew of Best Actor awards for his role on the Versace mini-series which included the Emmy, Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild.

Darren gave a sweet shout-out to Swier during his acceptance speech at the Emmys.

‘Oh my God, you guys are witnessing the most extraordinary moment of my life thus far… My darling Mia, you roll the windows down and pump the music up in my life.’

The actor is known to a lot of fans for his five seasons on the wildly popular musical series Glee, from 2010 to 2015.

Swier has worked for Fox and Showtime and attended New York University’s Steinhardt School of Media Studies and Television Production.
