Lindsay Navarro will play the character of the girl who was abducted in the new movie, Girl In The Shed: The Kidnapping of Abby Hernandez”. However, she is not the one who went through that horrifying event in real.
The girl in the real story is Abby herself- a 14 years old teenager who was starting her freshman year at Kennett High School in North Conway. Then, one day, she vanished without a trace, prompting a flurry of stories and suspicions about her whereabouts.
When her family got worried as she did not return home on October 9, they filed a missing report. They were sure that their daughter would not have run away from home.
She was indeed kidnapped. She had taken a ride home from a stranger that day. She had asked him to drop her off in a restaurant nearby her home. However, when the man told her that he had to stop at a depot in the way, she knew that it was dangerous.
When she tried to leave the car unbuckling her seatbelts, the man pointed a gun at her. As a result, she complied with whatever he said in an attempt to save her life.
Thus, she was blindfolded and imprisoned in her captor’s yard in a storage unit. She suffered verbal and sexual abuse for months, was forced to wear a shock collar, and was even compelled to address her kidnapper as “master.”
However, she never gave up hope and tried to gain his trust and make him think that they were friends. Finally, she convinced him to let her off and promised that she would never reveal his identity and talk about the incident.
Surprisingly, he trusted her and dropped her off, where he picked them up. She walked the extra mile to get to her mother’s home. After a week, she revealed his identity and address to the police.
He was arrested and sentenced to 45 to 90- years in prison, as per Oxygen True Crime.
