Everything To Know About Jurnee Hoffmeyer Hair Cut Case And Lawsuit
On March 24, 2021, Jurnee Hoffmeyer came home with hair on one side of her head cut short.
When her father inquired after it, she said her friend had cut it on a school bus. Her father, Jimmy, then took her to a hair salon to get it fixed.
The hairstylist gave her an asymmetrical cut to hide the uneven chop and offered to give her free hair cuts until the hair grew back on all sides, as per People.
However, Jurnee returned home with the other side of her hair cut a few days later. Her father initially thought another student cut her hair but it turned out a teacher was responsible this time.
Jimmy complained to the school district and demanded a reason for cutting his daughter’s hair without informing them or seeking their approval.
He said Jurnee was crying because she thought she’d get into trouble for getting her hair cut.
The school district later issued an apology letter to Jurnee but her father was not happy with it. The school stated the teacher did not mean any harm to the student and it was not an act of bullying or racism.
Jurnee was apparently not happy with her hair and asked a school librarian to fix it. The teacher, who was also a beautician, agreed to make her feel better.
Jurnee’s teacher knew that the librarian planned to cut her hair without permission from her parents. The school clarified that the teacher’s actions were unacceptable despite their good intentions and apologized to the entire family.
Nevertheless, her father was not satisfied and now has filed a $1 million lawsuit against the school district and the teachers.
