Maura Tierney won the second-season tournament of Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown in 2004, defeating Lauren Graham, who had previously guest-starred in the fourth season of NewsRadio. Tierney returned to the stage in May 2006, co-starring with Eric McCormack in the Off-Broadway debut of Some Girl(s).
In addition, she demonstrated her acting ability by participating in many films in 2008, including Semi-Pro, Baby Mama, The Go-Getter, and Finding Amanda.
Tierney appeared as Laurel in the Off-Broadway production Three Changes, alongside Dylan McDermott, from September 16 to October 4.
Tierney returned to television in 2009 after a stint in film and theater. During the last seasons of the FX series Rescue Me between 2009 and 2011, she played the recurrent character Kelly McPhee.
She also took over the female lead role in the ABC television series The Whole Truth in 2010, replacing Joely Richardson, who departed the program to focus on her family.
Tierney made her television debut in this legal drama, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer, after successfully recovering from breast surgery and cancer treatments. Unfortunately, due to low ratings, ABC canceled The Whole Truth after only four episodes.
