Markus Josef Lanz who was born March 16, 1969 in Bruneck, South Tyrol, Italy is an Italian-German television host and producer of motion pictures. Markus Lanz has been the host of his talk show on ZDF since 2008, Markus Lanz.

When Markus Lanz was younger, he and his brother Gotthard performed as the musical duo The W5, in which he played keyboard and piano. Markus Lanz was trained as a funker by the Italian Heer after receiving his Matura in Bruneck in 1988, and he worked for the Alpini.
