A well-known source of economic analysis, Mark Zandi is an American economist and the co-founder of Moody’s Economy.com, which is highly recognised. Moody’s Economy.com is a service provided by Moody’s Analytics Inc. In the years before starting Economy.com, Zandi worked as a regional economist at Chase Econometrics. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, to parents of Iranian ancestry, and grew up in Radnor, Pennsylvania, before moving to New York City. 

Higher education was provided at Upper Merion High School, where he received his diploma. At the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business, Zandi earned his B.S. and Ph.D. degrees in economics. He was given the surname “Zandi” because he belonged to the Zand dynasty (also known as the Zandieh dynasty), which governed southern and south-central Iran in the eighteenth century (1750–1794). Christina Romer and Jared Bernstein cited Zandi’s analysis of the impact of an economic stimulus package on the United States economy in their report on President Barack Obama’s proposed American Recovery and Reinvestment Plan, which became the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. 

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 was based on Zandi’s analysis. Zandi has been chastised for assuming excessively high multipliers for government expenditure in his models.
