Marieke Wolsers van Bronckhorst: 5 Facts On Gio van Bronckhorst Wife

Football manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s wife, Marieke Wolters Van Bronckhorst, is around her mid-forties. 

Giovanni shared a birthday post on Instagram on June 12, 2019, with a picture of her with their son Jake.

Since they went to school together in Rotterdam, Netherlands, she could be around the same age as him, which is 45-50 years old. The pair did not date while in high school but after they both graduated and went on with their future careers.

Wolters went on to study and obtain her qualifications to become a primary school teacher, whereas her husband became a professional player.

When given the option of remaining in her own country and working in education or coming to Scotland with her future husband, the footballer’s wife chose the latter.

The ScottishSun reported that Marieke eventually tied the knot with Giovanni in a wedding attended by several Rangers teammates in 2000. Among the guests were Celtic icon Henrik Larsson and former NBA stars Bobby Petta and Regi Blinker. 

Currently, Marieke has the title of vice president at the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation, where the Rangers manager holds the fort as its honorary chairman. 

The couple founded the Foundation in their native Netherlands and S.V. Gio was established as part of their activities to merge their passions for sports and education.

The initiative began in 2012 and works with students in their final two years of an elementary school in the Netherlands. Throughout a 20-week course, the students gather once a week to participate in sports and concentrate on school-related issues.

S.V. Gio also offers an additional program to assist refugee children adjusting to the Netherlands. Wolters currently works as the vice president of the Giovanni van Bronckhorst Foundation, while the Rangers manager is its honorary chairman.

Jake and Joshua are Marieke And Giovanni’s two kids. Their elder son, Jake, was born shortly after Van Bronckhorst’s transfer from Rangers to Arsenal in 2001.

While Giovanni was playing for the Catalan giants, their younger son, Joshua, was born while the family was in Barcelona, Spain.

Their family often spends time together on several occasions, most notably when Giovanni was formally named Rangers manager last week.

Giovanni wished his son Jake with a happy birthday post on his 18th birthday on Instagram, which means that Jake is already 21 now.

Their oldest son is also on social media and can be found on Instagram with the username jakevanbronckhorst5.
