In September 2010, she took over as Editor in Chief of Architectural Digest from her mother, Margaret Angèle Russell (born in New Canaan, Connecticut), who had been in the post from September 2010. Paige Rense Noland, who had been editor for many years, was replaced by her. Russell was the driving force behind a widely acclaimed redesign of Architectural Digest magazine, as well as the relaunch of the company’s website and the introduction of AD’s tablet editions. Prior to joining Architectural Digest, Russell worked as VP/Editor in Chief of Elle Decor, a publication she helped found in 1989. Over the course of her career, Russell also founded elledecor.com and produced the best-selling Elle Decor book series. Russell currently serves as a Trustee for God’s Love We Deliver and the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, having previously served on the boards of DIFFA and the Alpha Workshops, among other organisations. Her charitable efforts have primarily focused on raising millions of dollars for HIV/AIDS prevention, education, and direct-care initiatives. Additionally, Russell is a presidential appointee to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for Performing Arts, and she serves on the Advisory Council of the Philip Johnson Glass House, which is owned by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Russell has a bachelor’s degree from Brown University.References:
