Marcus Browne is an American professional boxer.

In December 2020, Transnational Boxing Rankings Board ranked him sixth in the world’s sixth-best active light heavyweight. Similarly, The Ring Magazine placed him at the eighth position, while Boxrec considered him the seventh-best.

On 17 December 2021, Marcus, WBC No.1 contender, will face Artur Beterbiev, boxing’s only world champion with a hundred percent knockout rate, at the Bell Centre, Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The fight is for WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles. 

Although he comes as a challenger in this bout, he has an impressive record of 24 wins, of which 16 came off KOs and only one loss. 

Marcus Browne Domestic Violence Case Update – Is He Acquitted?

Police arrested Marcus Browne on 6 April 2018 for two domestic violence charges. He seems to be acquitted.

According to the authorities, on 30 March 2018, the boxer demanded entry to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment, violating an order of protection that came into action on 28 December 2017 after he allegedly assaulted her.

Then on 19 January 2019, police again arrested him for allegedly kicking in the woman’s Park Hill Avenue home door and choking her on 27 September 2018. For that incident, he pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal contempt, receiving a sentence of 26 sessions of the batterer’s intervention program and a conditional release. As a result, he missed out on the WBO light Heavyweight bout against Sergey Kovalev. 

Almost after five months, Marcus again found himself in trouble with the law for felony criminal contempt, aggravated family offense, and misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass and contempt. It was his fourth arrest in just 18 months.
