The Rothschild family net worth: The Rothschilds are a family of businessmen and women who own multiple banking and financial institutions, wineries, and properties around the world. The Rothschild dynasty is believed to control trillions of dollars worth of assets. At a minimum, today the family is worth a combined $400 billion dollars. They are considered the most wealthy and powerful family in the world. The Rothschilds amassed their first fortune in the early 1800s and have continued to gain power and wealth to this day. The family descends from Mayer Amschel Rothschild, who today is considered the father of modern finance and banking. Rothschild used his fortunes to establish an international banking family through his five sons. During the 19th century, when it was at its height, the Rothschild family is believed by some to have possessed the largest private fortune in the world as well as the largest fortune in modern world history. The family’s wealth is believed to have subsequently declined, as it was divided among hundreds of descendants. Today, Rothschild businesses are far less well known than they were throughout the 19th century, although they encompass a diverse range of fields, including finance, mining, energy, mixed farming, wine, and charities. Since 2003, a group of Rothschild banks have been controlled by Rothschild Continuation Holdings, a Swiss-registered holding company under the chairmanship of Baron David René de Rothschild.
