She met Ollie while they were attending the same youth theatre as she did at the age of sixteen. He was a year her junior, and the two hit it off right away.
They began dating, and Ollie stated that he wanted to see the world through Lucy’s eyes. She went utterly blind two months into their relationship due to incontinentia pigmenti, a rare condition she inherited at birth.
Her condition occurred gradually, but one day she could no longer see Ollie’s face. ‘Ollie, your face is going,'” she explains.
She said she wasn’t sure she could handle losing sight and starting a new relationship, so she told him, ‘I can’t be with you.’
However, Ollie said, ‘I’m not going to let you leave me,’ and he’s been there for her ever since.” It may be a cliche, but love truly is blind for us,” she told to Mirror.

Lucy Edward is blind after suffering from a rare genetic disorder, called Incontinentia pigmenti (IP).
At the age of eleven, she lost sight in her right eye. She eventually lost sight in her left eye in 2013, when she was seventeen years old.
IP is a rare X-linked dominantly inherited syndrome that manifests at birth or early childhood.
The most distinguishing feature is the appearance of distinctive progressive skin lesions, which begin as vesiculobullous lesions and advance to whorl-like pigmentary lesions in four stages.
IP also includes eye abnormalities, the majority of which occur in the retina.
She struggled with depression but overcame it by running. Lucy’s sister Alice described online makeup tutorials for her after she went blind.
After going blind, Lucy got Olga, her guide dog, who has since retired. She received a guide dog named Molly in August 2021.
