On July 1, 1977, Liv Tyler Lindgren, an American actor, producer, singer, and former model, was born. She started modeling when she was barely 14 years old. Tyler made her acting debut on the big screen in the wildly popular 1998 film Armageddon.
In the movie, she played the daughter of Bruce Willis’ character and the love interest of Ben Affleck’s character. Despite receiving negative reviews from critics, the movie was a great commercial hit, earning $553 million worldwide.
The soundtrack for the film featured the Aerosmith songs “What Kind of Love Are You On” and “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing.”
In a 2001 interview with The Guardian, Tyler said that she had initially turned down the role in Armageddon but had changed her mind out of fear and a desire to challenge herself.
Tyler continued to appear in movies, including the drama Onegin (1999), in which she played Tatyana Larina opposite Ralph Fiennes. The film was based on the same-titled 18th-century Russian novel by Alexander Pushkin.
Although some people didn’t enjoy the way Tyler tried to mimic the dialect, she had to develop an English accent for the role. The film did poorly with critics and viewers alike. In the same year, she made a cameo in the historical comedy Plunkett & Macleane.
