Set in contemporary days, Riverdale is a surprising and satirical take on Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart, Surviving Jack), Veronica (Camila Mendes), Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse, Zack and Cody’s Suite Life), Josie (Ashleigh Murray) and their friends, focused on the iconic characters of Archie Comics, depicting the surrealism of small city life.
The Riverdale community has been shocked by the recent tragic death of Jason Blossom, the golden high school baby, as the new school year begins… Nothing, and nothing seems the same… Archie Andrews (KJ Apa) is still an all-American kid, but the summer events made him understand that he wants to pursue a future in music after the sudden end of his forbidden relationship with Riverdale’s young music teacher, Ms. Grundy, not walking in the footsteps of his parent (Sarah Habel).
Which indicates that Archie doesn’t have anyone to mentor him, particularly not singer Josie McCoy (Ashleigh Murray), who’s only concentrating on her band, the world-famous Pussycats, soon-to-be.
As with his shattered friendship with the aspiring writer and fellow classmate Jughead Jones, all weighs heavily on Archie’s mind (Cole Sprouse). In the meantime, girl-next-door Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart) is excited to see her crush Archie after being away all summer, but she is not yet able to show her true feelings to him. And the nerves of Betty, which are scarcely soothed by her overbearing mother, Alice (Madchen Amick), are not the only thing holding her back.
There’s an undeniable spark between her and Archie when, with her mother, Hermione (Marisol Nichols), a new student, Veronica Lodge (Camila Mendes), arrives in New York City, even though Veronica does not want to risk her new friendship with Betty by making a play for Archie. And then here we’ve got Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch)… The Riverdale Queen Bee is pleased to spice up Archie, Betty, and Veronica’s suspense, but Cheryl keeps her own secrets. What, exactly, is she concealing about the mysterious death of her twin brother, Jason? Riverdale might look like a sleepy, peaceful place, but there are dangers in the shadows…
