Leon Levine Obituary
Leon Levine was born on June 8th, 1937, in Wadesboro, North Carolina, and opened the first Family Dollar store in Charlotte when he was 22 years old.
Ultimately, Dollar Tree bought the company in 2014. Family Dollar/Dollar Tree expressed their sympathies and compassion to Levine’s family in a statement.
Levine was a successful businessman who was also heavily involved in the Charlotte community and contributed much to philanthropy there. Levine Children’s Hospital, Levine Cancer Institute, and Levine Center for the Arts are just a few of the institutions that bear his name.
His charity contributions benefitted Atrium Health as well, and his legacy will inspire and serve the community for many years to come.
The President of the Atrium Health Foundation, Armando Chardiet, praised Levine for representing all the beauty in the world.
He also noted that the buildings and programs that Levine helped to fund changed the course of care at Atrium Health and that his influence will be felt by their teams and patients for the rest of their lives.
Leon Levine’s Net Worth
