Roma Downey is the ex-wife of Leland Orser.
Roma Downey OBE is a British actress, producer, and New York Times Best-Selling author who is best known for playing Monica the Angel in the CBS television series Touched by an Angel.
She was born on May 6, 1960, in Derry, United Kingdom, to Maureen O’Reilly Downey (mother) and Patrick Downey (father).
Downey attended Thornhill College, a Catholic girls’ school in Derry, Northern Ireland. She also earned a Bachelor of Arts at Brighton College of Art and studied BA (Hons) Expressive Arts at Brighton Polytechnic.
After studying acting in London at The Drama Studio, she has appeared in numerous movies and tv shows including Touched by an Angel (1994-2003), The Bible (2013), Son of God (2014), Borrowed Hearts (1997), On a Wing and a Prayer (2023), and others.
Downey married fellow actor Leland Orser in 1987. Two years later, the former couple divorced in 1989.
She then married director David Anspaugh in 1995 and divorced in 1998.
Downey is currently married to television producer Mark Burnett.
