Coming from an athletic family, the young Duke inherited most of his skills from his mother, a Parade All-American player during her college days, as mentioned in ON3.

Both his mom and dad went to Warwick Valley High School in Orange County, per prospective insight. His parents have been married for over 25 years and raised four incredible children, all pursuing basketball.

While talking about his family, Kyle said that although his mom was strict, he positively took her criticism instead of feeling bad about it. On the other hand, his dad was easygoing and was always there for him.

The 19-year was hooked on basketball at a very young age due to his family background. Filipowski started playing the game at six with his three siblings, and Rebecca was his first-ever coach.

Unfortunately, Hagerdon could not continue her promising journey due to knee injuries and decided to retire after several surgeries, and became a coach later.

Likewise, Kyle’s dad, David, played D-II football and basketball at Slippery Rock. His uncle, Randall, and aunt, Beverly, were athletes at Boston College and Dartmouth.

Matt has now signed to play at Harvard, as per his Twitter bio. In a recent interview, Kyle said his brother Matt helped him step into more of that guard position as his height could not support him playing the center.
