Escolleu o cognome de Kupido por cantar e escribir cancións románticas. Comezou a cantar con Cora Marie en 1981. O seu primeiro grande éxito foi foi Was Ek Maar ‘n Digter, que foi a única canción en afrikaans que entrou na lista dos Top 20 da Springbokradio de 1982 . En 1983 o dúo logrou outro dos seus grandes éxitosCountry in Harmonie e seguiron a traballar xuntos durante 11 anos ata a morte de Cora en 1994. Tamén escribiu temas para Johan Stemmet e Laurika Rauch. En 1997 estableceu o grupo Quattro co seu irmán Alan Ladd e as súas irmás Cleo e Angela.

En 2012 colaborou no libro biográfico sobre Cora Marie Gee Haar ‘n Roos-Die Lewensverhaal van Cora Marie da escritora Shaun Mynhardt.
