He has many other achievements to his credit.
In 1998, he signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records. Robert then gained commercial success in the rap rock genre behind the single Bawitdaba, Only God Knows Why and Cowboy. After the success of Devil in 2000, he released “The History of Rock”, which was a compilation of remixed versions of songs from previous albums. He collaborated with Sheryl Crow for “Picture”. This was his first country hit, and the biggest pop hit in the US. It was #4 on the Hot 100. In 2010, he released “Born Free”, which featured an eponymous song. This was the political campaign theme of Mitt Romney.
In 2001, Rock started dating the actress Pamela Anderson. In April 2002, he and Anderson were engaged, but the engagement was called off. They got married in a surprise wedding in July 2006. The couple however divorced after just five months as he wanted to live in Detroit and Anderson wanted to stay in Los Angeles. Rock later said that the divorce was because Anderson had criticized his mother and sister in front of his son from a previous relationship.
