Ken Calvert Radio

The experienced local radio presenter will retire from his morning show on classic rock station WCSX 94.7 FM on Dec. 20, station owner Greater Media Inc. As he said

“I will continue to host a weekend show and write his “KC’s Korner” for the station’s website, Greater Media said in a statement.”

He’s been with the station since 2000 and replaced Jeff Deminski and Bill Doyle as WCSX’s morning show host in January 2010.

Trudi Daniels joined him in June to co-host a rebranded morning show called “K.C. & Trudi.”

Daniels will continue as the show’s host, Greater Media said, with help from show producer and contributor Jim O’Brien.

The show’s ratings weren’t immediately available. WCSX will do a week of recollections about his career and “congratulatory calls from listeners, celebrities and local dignitaries.”

Since 1973, he’s also worked at WWWW-FM, WABX-FM, WRIF-FM, WLLZ-FM, and WJR-AM, and spent 16 seasons as the Detroit Pistons’ public address announcer, Greater Media said.

“This has been a dream job with a dream company,” Calvert said in a statement. “I look forward to remaining a part of the Greater Media Detroit family. It allows me to stay on-air on a limited basis and have a larger part on our growing digital platform with blogs and a regular podcast.”

Calvert’s departure from Detroit morning radio is the latest personality change since Greater Media replaced Drew Lane and Mike Clark’s longtime “Drew and Mike Show” with former 89X duo Dave Hunter and Charles Urquhart’s “Dave and Chuck the Freak” program.

Ken Calvert internship

The Congressman offers unpaid internships to qualified college students and recent graduates. Space in the office is limited to only one or two interns per semester and summer, which makes the application process highly competitive. Applications are accepted year-round; however interested persons should apply as early as possible.

Capitol Hill is a great way to see how Congress operates first-hand. An internship in a Congressional office provides an exciting educational experience. Congressional offices are small and the staff is busy with constantly changing issues. An intern provides basic assistance to the staff by opening and directing mail, answering and directing telephone inquiries and running errands. Interns are also encouraged to participate in the legislative process by attending Congressional Research Service classes and legislative briefings, doing research, and assisting with constituent service. Work assignments are limited only by the intern’s energy and willingness to devote time to learning.

To apply for an internship, applicants must submit a resume and cover to the Intern Coordinator of the office where you wish to be placed. All materials should be mailed or faxed to either Chandler Smith in Washington, D.C. or Intern Coordinator in Corona, CA. We also welcome a brief writing sample as well as letters of recommendation. Thank you, and best of luck!

ken Calvert for Congress

The Congressman(CA-42) statement in response to the introduction of the “Green New Deal” by Congressional Democrats.

Democrats infamously misled Americans during the passage of Obamacare by telling them that if you like your health insurance plan, you can keep it. Today, they formally admitted their deception by introducing legislation to eliminate every private health insurance plan.

I appreciate Adm. John Richardson, the Chief of Naval Operations, making history and coming to visit Naval Surface Warfare Center Corona. I agree 100% that our local Navy base in Norco is a “center of excellence for our Navy” and we need to sustain the important role they play supporting our fleet and our national security.

H.R. 1, a bill House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Congressional Democrats claim would restore “fairness” in our elections, would send YOUR tax dollars to the campaign accounts of Congressional candidates you may or may not support. For every $1 (up to $200) contributed to Speaker Pelosi’s campaign, she’s going to receive $6 in federal tax dollars from Uncle Sam. That’s wrong and I’ll oppose it.

If Democrats in Sacramento had listened to us years ago, how many tax dollars could we have saved? How many real transportation solutions could we have built right here in the Inland Empire? So many opportunities wasted.

Socialism disguised as radical environmentalism is still socialism. As Democrats admit, the Green New Deal seeks a ‘massive transformation’ of America. The proposal would expand the reach, size, and cost of our federal government to levels that would leave our Founding Fathers rolling in their graves. The only conceivable way to fund the Democrat’s Green New Deal government-state is through tax increases on all Americans, including the middle-class. Green New Deal supporters acknowledge it will likely require a carbon tax and that even if they took the revenues of every billionaire and business in the country, it would not be sufficient to fund the plan. If Speaker Pelosi brings the Green New Deal to the House floor, I will vote against this socialist fever dream.
