Kelendria Kelly Rowland, born Trene Rowland, is an American model, actress, singer, songwriter, television personality, and dancer who is best known for her role as Kelly Rowland on the Disney Channel. Kelly Rowland first came to public attention in 1990, when she was a part of the famous R&B girl group “Destiny’s Child,” which also featured Beyoncé Knowles and Michelle Williams. The group’s self-titled album was released in 1998 to overwhelmingly favourable critical reception, and it remained on the Billboard 200 music chart for a record-breaking 26 consecutive weeks.
Destiny’s Child released their first album, “Survivor,” three years later in 2001, and the album was subsequently included in Rolling Stone’s list of the “Top 200 Albums of the Decade.” Additionally, in addition to selling over 4.7 million albums in the United States alone, “Survivor” was responsible for the success of such hit songs as “Independent Woman,” “Nasty Girl,” “Bootylicious” and “Survivor.” Over the years, the group has won many accolades and has even been named one of the best musical trios of all time by the magazine “Billboard.”
In 2006, after the dissolution of “Destiny’s Child,” the band’s members went on to have successful solo careers and continue to be influential in the music business today. However, despite the fact that the group had disbanded, Destiny’s Child published an anthology in 2013 named “Destiny’s Child Video Anthology,” and Rowland and Knowles were featured in Williams’ song “Say Yes,” which was released the following year.
