He was also the founder of the Mimbres Pottery Collection, where Berlant worked with archaeologist Steven A LeBlanc. Berlant found that a relatively small number of Mimbres artists made the majority of the ancient pottery, perhaps as few as 2 or 3 artists per village.
Berlant, while in Mimbres Pottery Collection, found the prolific artist “Rabbit Master,” who painted rabbits in perceptual grouping.
