Mike Hughes is a cornerback for the National Football League’s Kansas City Chiefs (NFL). He attended the University of Central Florida and was a member of the UCF football team. Minnesota Vikings selected him in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft (30th overall).
Hughes was a part of the 13-0 University of Central Florida football team in 2017, recording 11 pass breakups and four interceptions in the process. He saved his final pick for the most important game of the year, an interception in UCF’s exciting win against South Florida late in the season. Hughes also scored the game-winning touchdown in that game, returning a kickoff 95 yards in the final minutes of regulation to keep UCF’s undefeated season alive.
For his efforts that year, he was selected a Second Team All-American, attracting the attention of the NFL. Hughes was selected early in the 2018 Draft as a result of this, and after three years in Minnesota, the former first-round pick was released.
