Location of Kabianga University

The University is situated in the famous and lush tea-growing highlands of Kericho in the South-Western end of the Rift Valley Province of Kenya and within the proximity of the famous multinational tea-growing companies, Unilever, James Finlay, and George Williamson. It is located approximately 26 km from Kericho Town and is about 6.2 km off road a junction called Kabianga Dairies, formerly ‘Premier’ on Kericho-Kisii road.

    Admission Requirements: 

    A candidate must satisfy any of the following minimum requirements:

      • Be a holder of a degree at the level of bachelors with at least Second Class Honours, Upper division in any discipline from the University of Kabianga or any other institution recognized by the University Senate.

    or

    • Be a holder of a degree at the level of a Bachelors’ with Second Class Honours, Lower division in any discipline from the University of Kabianga or any other institution recognized by the University Senate provided the candidate has two (2) years experience in a relevant field.

    Credit Transfer from other institutions of higher learning Applicants who have completed equivalent Masters course units other than MBA executive at other Senate recognized universities may, with the approval of the Senate be allowed to transfer credits up to 49 per cent of required course units into their programme. The normal admission process shall apply.

    Must be Principal or Deputy Principal, Head of Department of Schools, Colleges, Institutions of education or NGO officials involved in education, education officers or practitioners with at least 5 years teaching experience in Educational Institutions.

    • The Common regulations for the Master’s degree of the University of Kabianga apply.
    • First-class or second class upper division in Environmental studies or allied from a recognized University.
    • Second class honours lower division with at least two years of relevant working experience.

    • School of Natural Resource & Environmental Management

    Duration and Structure of the Programme: 

    The Master’s programme shall consist of course work, examination and thesis, normally extending over a period of two years distributed over four semesters of full-time attendance, or a maximum period of four years of part-time attendance from the date of registration. The Master’s programme shall consist of a minimum of fifty-three (53) units of coursework, examination and thesis distributed over four semesters.

    Admission Requirements: 

    Applicants for the Master of Science Degrees in Agricultural Economics and Resource Management MUST have at least a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts, Second Class Honours (Lower Division) degree or its equivalent in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Commerce or other related disciplines from a recognized University

Admission Requirements: 

    • A holder of Bachelors degree with at least Second Class Honours (Upper Division), having majored in Applied Mathematics at the University of Kabianga or any other University recognized by UoK Senate.

OR

  • A holder of Bachelors degree with Second Class Honours (Lower Division), having majored in Applied Mathematics at the University of Kabianga or any other University recognized by UoK Senate. In addition, the candidate should have at least TWO years relevant work experience since graduation.

17. Master of Science in Chemistry

Admission Requirements: 

  • A holder of a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with at least second class honours (upper division) from the University of Kabianga or any other institution recognized by University of Kabianga Senate.
  • A holder of a Bachelor of Education degree who has studied Chemistry as a major subject and has attained at least an upper second class honours from the University of Kabianga or any other Institution recognized by University of Kabianga Senate.
  • Holders of Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or Bachelor of Education who has studied Chemistry as a major subject with lower second class honours, with evidence of two years of proven work experience in the relevant field.

18. Master of Science in Forestry (Tropical Forest Biology and Silviculture)

Admission Requirements: 

  • The Common regulations for the Master’s degree of University of Kabianga apply
  • Holders of 1st class or upper 2nd class in Forestry. Agroforestry, or Biological Sciences from a recognized University
  • Fields other than forestry will be required to satisfy pre-requisites to the postgraduate courses in forestry
  • Those with 2nd class honours lower division with at least two years relevant working experience

Duration and Structure of the Programme: 

1. The program can be done on either a full-time or part-time basis.

2. The Master’s programme shall consist of course work, examination and thesis, normally extending over a period of two years distributed over four semesters of full-time attendance, or a maximum period of four years of part-time attendance from the date of registration.

3. The Master’s programme in Forestry shall consist of a minimum of forty-five (45) units of coursework, examination and thesis distributed over four semesters.

19. Master of Science in Microbiology

Admission Requirements: 

  • At least second class honours (upper division) degree in Microbiology or its equivalent in Biological Sciences (Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Zoology, Botany etc), Public Health, Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biomedical Sciences or their equivalent from the University of Kabianga or any other University recognized by University of Kabianga Senate.
  • A holder of Bachelors degree with Second Class Honors (Lower Division), in Microbiology or any related Biological Sciences from the University of Kabianga or any other University recognized by University of Kabianga Senate. In addition, the candidate should have at least TWO years of relevant work experience since graduation.

Admission Requirements:
