Justin Kirk, an American actor who was born on May 28, 1969, has made a name for himself in both theater and film. One of his most celebrated performances was as Prior Walter in Mike Nichols’ film adaptation of Angels in America.
For this performance, he received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries or a Movie. Even though he didn’t win, he and his co-star Jeffrey Wright gave outstanding performances. Another illustration of Kirk’s brilliance was his portrayal of Andy Botwin in the television series Weeds.
Kirk was born in Salem, Oregon, and was brought up in a variety of settings. His mother was Russian-Jewish and his father was of Danish and English origin.
His early years were spent in Union, Washington, where he attended a primary school on a Native American reservation. He was twelve when his family relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed his secondary school education there, where the Children’s Theatre Company fostered his love of performing.
After completing high school, Kirk moved to New York City, where he immersed himself in the vibrant music scene of the early 1990s. He played guitar in several bands, notably The Dimestore Darlings.
His true passion, though, was acting, so he followed it by enrolling in the two-year conservatory acting school at Circle in the Square Theatre School.
