Family – Dad, mom, (parents)

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration if we said Jerry Tomlin, Josh’s father, will need a miracle to regain the use of his legs. Jerry, who works at a power plant connected to the school system in Whitehouse, Texas, experienced a burning sensation in his stomach on the job, and when one of the 24-hour clinics couldn’t diagnose his condition, he been referred to a larger hospital in Texas where problem was identified as Arterio-Venous Dysfunction which according to the layman’s understanding means that his blood vessels are tangled on the spinal cord and the process of untangling the blood vessels can be fatal.

Jerry eventually fell into paralysis from his chest down to his legs, which led to a difficult operation and Josh’s mother, Elana took care of him the whole time. His father eventually survived the surgery, but getting out of paralysis is a long process that he is still going through.

Even though it’s been a long time, Jerry hasn’t given up yet and it’s that attitude he instills in his son from an early age, as he made young Josh Tomlin throw balls into a bucket to perfect his kick throw and send it after those who had missed the goal. Josh’s father has always worked two jobs; one at power point and the other as a plumber so his son wouldn’t have to work, he did everything he could to help his son achieve his dream of being a professional baseball player.

The Indians right pitcher is a married man; He tied the knot with Carlie in January 2014. Their marriage has been blessed with two daughters, Myla and Mckenzie, to whom their parents are completely devoted. According to Carlie, the girls have bonded very well and she is happy with what they have together. Josh’s wife is completely in love with her daughters and she always carries pictures of them on social media. She even wants them to have their own float during the Christmas parade to greet everyone. At such a tender age, girls seem to enjoy the baseball games their parents constantly take them to.
