John Travolta has once again lost another dear person in his life to cancer, and this time it is his “Grease” co-star Olivia Newton-John.
The British-Australian singer-actress passed away on August 8 after her third bout with cancer. She had fought her illness in 1992 and 2013, respectively, of which she kept her second battle to herself.
Olivia’s cancer returned in 2017, and it had already spread to her bones and progressed to stage IV. The Grammy Award-winning singer passed away in her California residence surrounded by her family and friends.
John Travolta Girlfriend- Did He Ever Date Olivia Newton-John?
“Grease” movie in 1978 started another era of musical romance and unstopping rumors of John and Olivia’s romance in real life.
Their on-screen chemistry was so impressive that their fans had also urged them to date in real life. However, the two maintained their relationship as a close friendship all these years.
John and Olivia were often seen together attending events and Grease tributes parties even after four decades of the movie’s release.
Smooth Radio confirms that these two actors actually never dated each other during their lifetime. In her talk with the “Mamma Mia No Filter” podcast in 2018, Olivia clarified that though there could have been some chemistry, they kept it to themselves.
Both were in relationships during Grease’s filming, and they continued to stay away from each other romantically. And later, they moved and married other people, ultimately starting their respective families.
Grease And Pulp Fiction Star John Travolta Lost His Wife To Cancer in 2020
Before losing his special friend Olivia to cancer, the famed “Pulp Fiction” actor lost his wife Kelly Preston to cancer in 2020.
Preston was 57 on July 12, 2020, at the time of her death in her Clearwater, Florida home. The actress lost her battle with breast cancer after two years of diagnosis.
Unlike Olivia Newton-John, who was an advocate for cancer and medical cannabis, Preston did not publicize her cancer and kept it as a family matter.
She received treatment at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, and several other medical centers. John and his daughter Ella had announced her death via their Instagram handles.
Preston and John shared the screen in the 1988 movie “The Experts,” from where they started dating and got married in Paris in 1991. The couple gave birth to three children; a son Jett, a daughter Ella, and a younger son Benjamin.
Jeet passed away at age 16 while on a Christmas vacation in the Bahamas on January 2, 2009, The Sun reports. The remaining Travolta family is now close-knit and remains together most of the time.
