Joey Graziadei eyes: Why are Joey’s eyes yellow?

Joey Graziadei, a contestant on The Bachelor, has garnered attention not just for his captivating personality, but also for his distinctive yellow eyes.

In a candid revelation on his verified Instagram account, Joey disclosed that the cause behind his unique eye color is Gilbert syndrome.

This condition was first diagnosed during his high school years after experiencing illness for over a week.

Gilbert syndrome is characterized by elevated levels of bilirubin in the blood, which can give the eyes a yellowish hue. Bilirubin is a yellow pigment formed during the breakdown of red blood cells and is typically processed by the liver.

When the liver doesn’t process bilirubin properly, it can accumulate in the bloodstream, leading to symptoms like yellowing of the skin and eyes.

Despite the distinctive appearance, Gilbert syndrome is generally considered harmless and doesn’t require treatment.

Joey Graziadei’s openness about his condition sheds light on a lesser-known medical condition and serves as a reminder of the importance of embracing one’s uniqueness.
