Jesy Nelson Heritage and Parents Nationality Explored

Jesy Nelson’s heritage is believed to be white. However, her real and exact ethnicity is not known yet.

Jesy’s parents are known to be of Britain nationality. They are John Nelson and Janice White from the United Kingdom. Jesy was born on the 14th June 1991 in Romford, London. She is the second child in the Nelson family that has two girls and two boys.

The international music star really had a rough childhood while growing up because of bodyweight challenges and the sad fact that her parents separated when she was just five years old. Her mother was left to raise four children on her own with a Police Community Service Office salary.

Moreover, the lack of money made the Nelsons move from home to home as they could not maintain the payment of rent. However, despite many obstacles thrown upon them, Jesy Nelson was able to go through and complete her formal education. She studied at Jo Richardson Community School, then Abbs Cross Academy and Arts College, and finally Sylvia Young and Yvonne Rhodes Theatre Schools.

All About Jesy Nelson Blackfishing Accusations

Jesy Nelson was interviewed by The Guardian journalist Simon Hattenstone which detailed the relentless internet trolling Nelson experienced during her period in the girl band. These trolls left her battling severe mental health issues and also became the subject of her 2018 BBC documentary Odd One Out.

Jesy was accused by online people. The singer was accused of intentionally making herself appear Black or racially ambiguous by way of excessive tanning and appropriating Black hair, makeup, and clothing styles.

Nelson was first found at the center of a black fishing debate in May 2021. That was the time when people actually learned that she was a white woman and not mixed-race unlike her former bandmates Leigh-Anne Pinnock and Jade Thirwall.

During that time, a deleted Buzzfeed community article entitled “Dear Little Mix Fans, We Need To Hold Jesy Nelson Accountable” analyzed Nelson’s changing appearance, detailing why blackfishing is a harmful trend.
