Jessica Kartalija full names Jessica Kartalija Anecharico is an American News Anchor born and raised in San Diego, California. The News Anchor served as the host for 12/5 pm news in WJZ-TV CBS Baltimore. Currently following the opportunity that came her way she headed to Philadelphia for WJZ’s sister station CBS 3.
Jessica Kartalija Early Life
Jessica was born and raised in San Diego, Calif., her family is originally from the East Coast. She headed there for college, graduating from The Pennsylvania State University where she majored in Broadcast Journalism and minored in Spanish. While in college, she completed a semester abroad, living in Sevilla, Spain, and became fluent in the language.
Later In 2016, Jessica Received a Masters Degree in in communications from Johns Hopkins University.

Kartalija joined the evening anchor desk at CBS3 Eyewitness News in the fall of 2018. Jessica came from WJZ, the CBS owned station in Baltimore where she was from the summer of 2006 until joining CBS3, KYW-TV. She came to Baltimore from the southwest, where she worked in Albuquerque, N.M. anchoring KASA FOX 2’s News at Nine, and reporting for sister station KOB-TV. Later she was promoted at KOB-TV, anchoring the station’s 4 p.m. news while continuing to serve as a reporter for other newscasts.
Prior to moving to New Mexico, she worked as the weekend anchor and reporter for KYMA-TV in Yuma, Ariz. While there, she won first place in the “Hard News Feature” category from the Associated Press.

Dear WJZ family,
When I came to Baltimore in 2006, I was in my 20’s and didn’t know a soul.I bought a place in Canton, joined a softball team and promised myself I would say “yes” to any new opportunity that came my way. That included going out with a guy I interviewed for a story, who would eventually become my husband!
More than a decade later, I find myself leaving Baltimore, a place I now love with all my heart.
I’ve accepted an anchor position at WJZ’s sister station KYW in Philadelphia. This is an incredible opportunity for me, and I couldn’t be more excited to take this next step in my career.
Yes, this means I will be having more cheesesteaks than crab cakes…but will be back in town often as we have friends and family here.
That said–the thought of leaving my WJZ family and our viewers breaks my heart.
You have welcomed me into your homes every afternoon and evening. You’ve trusted me to share all types of stories with you and your families–both positive and negative, and I am forever grateful. Thank you.
