On January 30, 1940, Jerry Owen Bradley was born in Nashville. In his youth, he enjoyed making jokes. After serving in the army for two years, Jerry made the decision to follow his father and uncle Harold into the music industry and began working for his family’s music publishing company, Forrest Hills Music. After his father’s recording studio, Bradley’s Barn, was constructed in 1965, he also began studying record production and engineering there.
As Owen Bradley’s son who was growing up in the music industry, Jerry yearned for a chance to establish his own name. In 1970, Jerry joined the team as Atkins’ assistant, but he quickly found himself behind the sound board as a staff producer.
