Jenny Eclair is a talented English comedian, author, and actor who first gained notoriety for her appearances on shows like Grumpy Old Women and Loose Women.
She was born Jenny Clare Hargreaves in Kuala Lumpur, Malaya, to British parents since her father served as a major in the British Army. When she was two years old, her family moved back to England, where she attended Queen Mary School in Lytham St. Annes.
In her teenage years, Eclair adopted the nickname Eclair while pretending to be French at a disco in Blackpool. This name eventually became her stage name. Later, she continued to pursue her passion for acting and joined the cabaret group Cathy La Crème and the Rum Babas.
Eclair relocated to London and spent two terms working as a life model at Camberwell Arts College. After seeing an advertisement for novelty performances in The Stage, she started writing punk poetry.
The 1989 Time Out Cabaret Award, according to her, was the first prize she had ever won without having to run 100 meters while holding an egg on a spoon.
