A keyboardist and singer from Scotland is named Jackie James. Jackie James continued to write music for Steps after penning the #1 single “Heartbeat,” which became a million seller.

For Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Lopez, and Celine Dion, Jackie James has also composed songs.

The music publisher Pete Waterman, who signed Jackie James to his roster and collaborated closely with her, claimed that she was “as close as anyone has come in the UK to legendary singer and songwriting legend Carole King, in terms of having her songs recorded by other artists while maintaining a separate successful solo performing career.”

Jackie James was also a founding member of the band MistraLE, whose song “Dance in the Moonlight” (Scorpio Records), which included James on lead vocals, was successful in Europe. The song was co-written with her. On “The Cool Breeze Tour,” MistraLE traveled throughout Europe.

Along with former Talk Talk keyboardist Ian Curnow and Billy Royal, Jackie James is a member of PowerHouse Music Inc., a songwriting and production firm that thrives in the fields of film, television, and advertising.
