Is Strictly Will Mellor Related To Kay Mellor? Meet His Parents Bill Mellor And Shirley Mellor

As Strictly is creating its hype this season, the speculations around Will Mellor being related to Kay Mellor are another discussion altogether. Is it only their surname, or do they have the same blood under their veins? Well, we will have to dig in deep to find that out.

Will Mellor, a 46-year-old actor, first gained notoriety in 1995 when he joined the Hollyoaks cast as James “Jambo” Bolton and remained there through 1998. He is most recognized for his work on Broadchurch, Two Pints of Lager, and a Packet of Crisps. Aside from Coronation Street, the actor’s other credits include Line of Duty and, most recently, the ITV serial opera in which he played Harvey Gaskell. Mellor has a background in music, and in 1998, his song of Leo Sayer’s “When I Need You” peaked at number five on the charts.

On the other hand, Kay Mellor was an award-winning English actress, screenwriter, producer, and director. She was renowned for producing television programs like the drama Fat Friends on ITV and Children’s Ward on CITV. She was born to Jewish mother Dinah and Catholic father George in Leeds on May 11, 1951. Dinah was a victim of George’s domestic abuse, which contributed to her parents’ poor marriage. Before requesting a divorce, she had an affair. She was a single parent who raised her children in Ireland Wood, and she hid the relationship for more than three decades.

Even though they both have English ancestry, Kay Mellor, an English writer, playwright, and filmmaker, and Will Mellor are not related. They both have the same last name, which further ignites the suspicion, but this is just a coincidence.

It is natural for people to make assumptions when two big names share their last name and come from the same area, but this time supposition is completely wrong. Will was born in Bredbury, United Kingdom, whereas Kay was born in Leeds, United Kingdom. The two do not have anything else in common besides their nationality and profession.

Will Mellor’s Parents

Will Mellor has spoken out about the tragic demise of his father and recounted the touching final words they exchanged. He could not console his mourning family after his father, Bill, passed away unexpectedly in April, just two weeks after receiving a cancer diagnosis. This was because of social distance rules.

The 44-year-old Broadchurch actor spoke about his sorrow during the most recent episode of their podcast Two Pints with Will & Ralf.

Will’s mother is Shirley Mellor, who is hardly mentioned anywhere. She has chosen her life to be in the dim light, away from the hustle and bustle of the showbiz world.

Will Mellor Is Married To Michelle McSween

Most people know Michelle McSween as an actress and dancer who is also married to Will Mellor. They originally became acquainted while working together on stage in the 1999 Oh, What a Night at Manchester’s Opera House production. The duo shares a luxurious home in Cheshire.

After meeting in 2007, Will and Michelle married a short time later, and they’ve been together for 15 years. The couple frequently posts pictures of each other on their social media pages, demonstrating their love for one another hasn’t changed.

Will and Michelle are parents to two kids: Renee, 14, and Jayden, 18. The family recently celebrated Jayden’s 18th birthday.

Michelle shared the following message on her Instagram page: “So the day has finally arrived – My cheeky little child has turned 18 and has become a man.

Will Mellor’s Journey On Strictly Has Been Impressive To Say The Least

Strictly Come Dancing fans have singled out Will Mellor for appreciation since he was “the only one” to acknowledge what they are calling the real stars of Blackpool week, the backing dancers.

After the first week of the new season, when Will, a former Hollyoaks star who is now a villain on Coronation Street, and professional partner Nancy Xu lit up the dance floor, they were dubbed the ones to watch and became the early favorites to take home the Glitterball trophy this year.

Before their Strictly trip hit a major snag when Will contracted an illness and fell behind in practice, Will and Nancy’s scores took a significant hit in week two.

Fortunately for them, their grades have started to improve steadily once more. Will and Nancy had the honor of capping off the festivities on Saturday night in the storied Tower Ballroom with a fantastic samba that brought a taste of a Rio carnival to Blackpool.

The judges were thrilled to see Will’s hips “return” and applauded the routine’s enthusiasm and footwork. He was eager to thank the backing dancers as she and Nancy awaited the judges’ remarks on their dance, walking around to hug and shake their hands as the music ended. Will and Nancy received an outstanding 35 out of 40 for their performance.

Fans also recognized his acknowledgment of the “unsung hero” athletes at home. One Twitter user wrote will thanking the other dancers is an act of pure class. The other dancers and Will and Nancy’s high-energy performance connected with viewers at home because the couple escaped the dance-off once more and advanced to the next week
