Maddow returned to MSNBC after her hiatus, but she would be hosting her show only once a week. Rachel informed her viewers that her return might not be permanent, and things might change again.

When she is not hosting the show, a rotating group of hosts will fill her time slot; she will continue to host special coverings and major news events.

The last episode of her show before her hiatus was aired on February 10, 2022; however, she joined MSNBC’s coverage of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union speech.

Maddow went on a hiatus to focus on developing projects for NBC Universal and creating a movie adaptation and podcast of her book The Bag Man.

Rachel Maddow’s Husband

Maddow doesn’t have a boyfriend as she is openly lesbian; she is in a romantic relationship with her partner Susan Mikula. The pair met when Rachel was working on her doctoral dissertation.

Mikula asked Maddow on a date when she hired Rachel to work on her yard. Their first date was at Ladies Day on the Range, an event hosted by National Rifle Association. They have been together for over 21 years.

Mikula is a photographer and artist from America. In 1998, she had her first solo photography exhibition. Susan hasn’t shared much about her early days. She likes to keep a low profile.

Mikula suffered a severe case of COVID-19 in November 2020 and eventually recovered, but Maddow was scared that she would lose the love of her life. Rachel is grateful that she recovered quickly.

She got her big break when she became an analyst for MSNBC’s Race for the White House and started to appear in Countdown with Keith Olbermann. Maddow hosted a  whole episode when Keith Olbermann was unavailable, which helped her to gain popularity.

Later Olbermann pushed the network to give Maddow her own show. In 2008, MSNBC announced that she would be getting her own show, The Rachel Maddow Show.
