Gabrielle Anne Carteris, born January 2, 1961, is a well-known American actress and a powerful force in the labor movement. While she has earned a reputation for herself in a variety of roles, her most prominent and well-known performance is as Andrea Zuckerman in the hit television series Beverly Hills, 90210.
Carteris’ tenure in the trade union world began in 2012 when she was appointed executive vice president of SAG-AFTRA. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) merged to establish this organization.
As fate would have it, Carteris found herself with even more duties inside the union after the untimely death of its president, Ken Howard, on March 23, 2016. As a result, she assumed the job of acting president and assumed the responsibilities that came with it.
The union’s national board elected Carteris as president on April 9, 2016, recognizing her leadership qualities and dedication and entrusting her with the remaining of Howard’s two-year tenure. This was a watershed moment in her career, cementing her place as a key figure in the industry.
