Ian Oliver is an American certified Broadcast meteorologist. He currently works for Storm Team 8 on WFLA-TV, virtual channel 8. With this, he is based in Tampa, Florida. He can be seen on News Channel 8 giving weather forecasts on both weekends and weekdays.

In his childhood, he occasionally played sports and even sometimes, he went skiing in New England with his family. In these times, his passion for exploring the weather grew even more.
Of late, he is an avid supporter of Boston Sports teams such as the Pats, Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. This is mainly due to the area being his origin. Besides that, he is a big fan of the Kentucky Wildcats. This is mainly because of his wife’s love for the team. He also enjoys watching the Lightning play at Amalie.

From January 2010 to July 2012, Ian worked as a Meteorologist/Reporter in the Burlington area at WCAX-TV. During these times he started hosting the weekly series “Skiin with Ian”. His roles were as a Weekend Morning Meteorologist, Field Weather Reporter, and occasional Fill-In Weather Anchor.
He covered topics most of science, environment, and recreation as well as some general assignments. After leaving WCAX, he joined WLEX in August 2012 up to April 2016. Here, he served as the Weekday 4 p.m. & 7 p.m. Meteorologist.In addition to this, he also was a field weather reporter and primary fill-in for a chief meteorologist. His work was to; forecast and produce weather graphics, publish website weather content and maintain a social media presence. He also produced and reported on unique weather events.
After leaving WLEX, he joined WFLA in Tampa as a meteorologist. He has worked there till date. Ian has covered winter and severe blizzards to tornadoes affecting the areas around him over the years.
He considers himself a lucky person to have taken on these great assignments over the course of his career. He has occasionally shown great love for his work at WFLA with Storm Team 8.
Some of the most notable weather stories he has covered are; The visit to the GOES-R satellite in a NASA clean room. During this visit, he was also able to see the satellite launch into space. The second in the weekly ski segment called “Skiin’ With Ian”. Lastly, delivering a weathercast live a Churchill Downs from the Kentucky Derby.
